We get quite a few questions from customers about bit rates and how the Shedworx conversion engine (used across all Shedworx converter products) manages this.

A bit rate is the bits per second on a media stream.  This includes audio and video streams.

The bit rate of a stream has a lot to do with the quality of the stream, bit its not the only factor.  For example, you could have a full HD 1080p (1920 x 1080) video stream at a low bit rate (say 1Mbps) which looks worse than a regular HD 720p (1280 x 720) at a higher bit rate (say 5Mbps).

The Shedworx conversion engine doesn't directly manipulate the output bit rate.  The engine may limit the output resolution to something reasonable (e.g. 4K) but it won't limit the bit rate.

The Shedworx conversion engine will also maximise the output bit rate to ensure that the converter file is as high quality as possible, given the input file.
