Playing videos on external drives is not a problem.
Just add your videos and play. The videos are not moved off of the drive. They will stay put.
If you unplug your drive at anytime Smart Player will detect this and automatically updates your library. Any videos on that drive will not be displayed in your library. As soon as you plug the drive back in the videos will reappear again.
